At the end of April 2009, while at ITA, I attended as many social media sessions as possible. At the time, I had a LinkedIn profile and was connected to about 200 people and viewed it as an eRolodex that had the benefit of contact information updates being done by the contacts themselves.
My attitude towards Social Media was a blend of dismissive and cynical. I just couldn’t see where this was all going. Those 4 or 5 hours at ITA were probably the most transformative hours in my entire career.
Since ITA I have: developed the WordPress blog you are now reading, increased my LinkedIn contacts by about 100, became a Twitter user, grew my followers to about 1500, and started blogging about everything I was learning, my marketing philosophy and that hodge-podge of stuff that makes up “Dawn’s World.”
This morning I looked at my blog stats and sputtered coffee. I couldn’t believe it.
When I consult with you, I take a lot of pride in the fact that what I am recommending – I have done. This is a game changer folks. You have at least as much, if not more, expertise as I do in your chosen fields of ERP, CRM, HRIS, Nonprofit, Accounting and business processes.
Your target market is using radically different means of evaluating you than they did even 3 years ago. They expect good content, available 24/7, and are put off by long data collecting forms. You need to be available through these tools. I am here to help you.
(Special thanks to Ed Kless, Wayne Schulz, and Joe Rotella for being very patient teachers.)
