The Junk Drawer – 6
I was running errands on Sunday and on the way home heard an old Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks tune Silver Spring http://is.gd/a4Lf6 . This made me think of an interview with Stevie Nicks I saw on The Chris Isaaks Hour (http://www.biography.com/video.do?name=isaak ). And as made my way north on 620, I’m thinking “Stevie Nicks doesn’t smile much.” Yes, when presented with a stress free weekend day, I am able to free my mind to ponder such things and then share them with you via The Junk Drawer series. This was not the case the previous Sunday.
Two weeks ago I was in Dallas for the week of 2/22 – 2/26, spoke at the Libertarian State Leadership Alliance on Saturday 2/27, which meant that Sunday 2/28 was spent madly knocking off errands so that I could turn around and be in Orange County 3/1 – 3/3 and back to Dallas 3/4-3/5. So I return from my errands, drop the bags in the hall, kick off my shoes, walk into the kitchen and (because it was dark) step into some liquid.
My initial reaction was to curse the dog. Then I flicked on the light. Discovered that the water dispenser in the refrigerator door was leaking. So after issuing an apology to the wrongly accused Mr. Dante, I mopped up the mess and tried to figure out what to do.
Using only a dry cleaning bag, a trash can and duct tape, I was able to direct the leak into the trash can. You can’t call me handy in the traditional sense, but I felt like MacGyver.
Beloved Son and one of his law school cronies shared some Scotch with their Constitution Law Professor who has served under Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush. Fascinating discussions. The demands of law school are pretty grueling but he seems to be doing fine. I’ve had the opportunity to edit preliminary injunction and some other writing projects for him. That’s as close as I want to get to law school.
I would like to thank Sharon Mostyn for including me in her 2010 Internet Marketing Olympics Dream Team – http://sharonmostyn.com/2010/02/28/2010-internet-marketing-olympics-dream-team/ I am honored and quite frankly it feels 10X better than my MacGyver moment.
Oh, and in my usual dogged, comprehensive research – I was able to find a picture of Stevie Nicks smiling.
